: We did some brainstorming of vocabulary on the whiteboards, learned how to say “in/at/to” the places we’ve been discussing and learned some new vocab for places, and finally watched one section of Paris Top 10.

à + le = au ; à + la = à la ; à + l’ = à l’ ;  à + les = aux

Handouts:  PowerPoint: Ma Ville

A Faire:  Choose 6 places and 6 faire expressions you can use to express what you are doing at those places (you may have to choose strategically).  Write sentences using conjugations of “être” to say where people are and “faire” to say what they are doing there.  Use different subjects (je, tu, il, nous, vous, elles) for each place/activity so you can practice a variety of conjugations.  Share out loud.

TEC:  Write down the correct form of à + article for each of the places in the PowerPoint.  Make a list you can use in the future!

Devoirs : take notes/study pg 194 (be able to understand them when I use them in class!), do pg 195 #6 (write complete sentences using the choices given or your own!)

Lundi 27/04

Today we had a substitute and we practiced our vocabulary for places and then played Battleship.

A Faire:  pg 190 #2 (write out questions and ask partner)

Devoirs :  pg 192 #4—write questions following the model to find out if you can get the things you’re looking for in Pauline’s neighborhood.

Today we reviewed questions, learned some new vocabulary to describe where we live (pg 190) and played Pictionary with our faire, avoir and etre expressions.

A Faire:  pg 190 #1

Devoirs : Study expressions with faire/avoir/etre and verb conjugations, pg 192 #3 (write whether or not there are the places listed in your neighborhood, pay attention to the negative construction if there is not, Also say the name of the place using il/elle s’appelle… based on gender), 8 visual dictionaries (image + phrase) for places on pg 191 (you may use the sentences starter on this page for your sentences!

We reviewed how to ask people to loan us things and how to ask how much things cost.  We also went over the tests and the retake process.  Then we played “Allez à la pêche” (Go Fish) to practice questions and numbers.

A Faire:  pg 124 #10 (read the sentence given and then write a sentence using faire and one of the expressions given in color in the activity.  Soyez logique!)

TEC:  Write complete sentence answers to the following questions using our new “faire” expressions…

Quand est-ce que tu fais tes devoirs, avant ou après le dîner ?

Est-ce que tu fais attention quand le professeur parle ?

Est-ce que tu aimes faire la cuisine ?

Où est-ce que tu fais des promenades ?

Est-ce que tu fais un voyage ce weekend ?

Est-ce que tu aimes faire du ski ? Du snowboard ?  Du skate ?  Du surf ?

Où est-ce que tu fais des achats ?

De quel sport est-ce que tu veux faire un match ?

Devoirs : 12 visual dictionary entries for faire expressions (image and sentence)—use a variety of subjects (nous, vous, ils, elle, etc.) so you can also practice different conjugations of faire! Pg 127 #5—write 5 questions you could ask in that situation (soyez creatif!).  Study faire!

Lundi 20/04

Today we learned the verb “faire” and some expressions that go along with it.  Then we started a video called “Paris Top 10”.

A Faire:  Faire workbook activity:  rewrite the questions and answers with the correct conjugation of faire in the blanks.  Try to understand the meanings of the questions and answers, write the translations next to each one.

Devoirs :  pg 124 #9 (rewrite sentences with correct conjugations of faire), pg 126 #2 (write the  question that would have generated the answer given…use your resources!)

Mercredi 15/04

Today we continued to practice talking about how much things cost, then learned the expression “prête-moi…” (pg 67). We also practiced and presented café dialogues.

A Faire: pg 69 #4 (write the dialogue for 3 different orders of a food item and a drink using the menu for “Le Select”)  Practice orally in partners.

Devoirs : pg 68 #1 (use “prête-moi…” and change prices to euros), pg 72 #3 (write the dialogue using the cues given and your knowledge of the vocabulary we’ve been practicing.  Change the prices to “Answers 3,50€”, “Says 7€”, and “gives waiter 9 €”)
